These sterling wrapped titanium hematite earrings are made from 10 mm titanium oxide coated hematite or hematine beads & sterling round wire with sterling ear wires. They are flashy in metallic multi color & will get noticed! The total length of each wrapped titanized hematine bead is 1/2″ (14 mm) & the total length of each earring is 1 1/4″ (32 mm). These earrings are light & comfortable to wear. Hematite is an iron ore with a metallic gray appearance. Due to great popularity actual hematite is rare & man-made synthetic hematite is often sold as natural. Testing costs are prohibitive for the relative value of actual hematite so it’s often impossible to know, even in a wholesale environment, what you’re buying. “Hematine” is a trade name denoting synthetic or imitation hematite. These hematite or hematine beads are coated via physical vapor deposition with titanium oxide. This creates the interference colors that you see & is very similar to how how niobium & titanium are anodized for color.
