Vintage Coffee Tree Slice Ashtray 1943 Brazil Presentation Gift

A vintage arabica coffee tree slice ashtray, taken from a 100 year old tree. It has a silvertone plaque, presenting it to genetics Professor Dobzhansky in Sao Paulo, Brazil in 1943, from several people. Prof Dobzhanksy was a prominent geneticist & evolutionary biologist, who first visited Brazil in 1943 & taught a class at the university, attended by one of the presenters of this ashtray. Coffee trees usually live 50-60 years, so 100 is a very old specimen. Some wear, tarnish to the metal, & needs cleaning. One tiny nail is missing from the plaque. Measures about 7″ wide.
