Antique Circa 1915 Metropolitan Life Building, New York Slurry Metal Ashtray, Made in Japan

Antique circa early 1900’s Metropolitan Life Insurance Building ashtray located in the Flatiron section of Manhattan, New York City. The building opened in 1907 & is still located at Madison Avenue & 24th St. The tray is made from cast slurry metal commonly made in Japan (marked on back) until the early 1930’s. It has tarnished over the last 100+ years. The date has been estimated based on a streetcar in the foreground rather than automobiles. Measures 3 1/2″ in diameter.
