Box 12 Fil Au Chinois No.40 Twisted Waxed Linen Thread Capsules 0.45mm – Vintage Tones

A box of 12 vintage style capsules in vintage colours, each containing 50 meters of Fil au Chinois twisted waxed linen thread. This thread is a 3 ply thread with a diameter of approximately 0.45 mm & has a z twist. It is an excellent choice of thread for sewing heavy fabrics, button holes & snaps & for many traditional & modern crafts such as; light leather work, Jewellery making, book binding. knotting, braiding & beadwork. It is also an excellent thread for artistic free hand embroidery, as it gives a beautiful & unusual quality of line. Like all Fil au Chinois threads, this thread is lightly waxed. The thread is passed through a bath of starch & bee’s wax before twisting. Because the wax does not sit on the surface of the thread there is no stickiness, the threads have a nice sheen & are resistant to fraying. The capsules are an old & traditional way of keeping threads, they keep the thread neat & prevent the thread unravelling helping to prevent any wastage.
