The blueberry is a bit over 1/2 inch (about 14mm) in diameter & has an 18 gauge copper wire stem. The 4mm thick cord has a sleek sterling silver lobster clasp that won’t hang up on clothing & lays flat under a collar. For more formal occasions the sterling silver slider can be slid off the black cord & slid over any other sterling silver chain that is 5.5mm or smaller in diameter. Your jewelry will be carefully packed with biodegradable plant fiber inside a 100% recycled paper gift box with a stretch bow. This Glass Blueberry Necklace is designed for a man with an active lifestyle. You can wear the necklace around the clock during both strenuous physical activity & business meetings. The 4mm thick rubber cord repels stains & perspiration. To clean it, just wear it through the shower. The Nature of Mother Nature Almost nothing in nature is completely round, smooth or even, so I avoid making my glass fruit & leaves too perfectly. I put on little splotches & speckles, make them a tidbit lopsided, & add other small imperfections so that each berry or leaf is unique. This makes them look much more real. Process & Materials: I make each glass blueberry bead individually using the lampwork process. I melt glass rods in the flame of a torch, directly onto the twisted end of a copper wire which becomes the stem. Because the copper stem is embedded inside the glass it can never be pulled free. I round over the points of the flower star of each blueberry to prevent them from chipping & so they cannot snag on clothing. The surface coloring of each berry is achieved by sprinkling it with powdered glass which is then completely melted into the surface. Because I don’t use paint the color will never fade or rub off. No two glass blueberry beads are exactly alike.
