Vintage 1950S Redware Ceramic Clay Figurine Poodle Dog

Once again, we just made a deal for the remainder contents for an old store that has been selling novelty & other stuff since the 1930’s in the Midwest & have these wonderful items to offer to you WHILE THEY LAST! You are buying ONE of these cool Poodles! I had some of these a few years back & they sold QUICK. People either think these are ugly or they are like me & they think these are cute! Either way, these are a part of Americana. People in the 1950’s who owned hotels & motels & camp ground had them custom painted to say the location or the hotel as souvenirs for the families who were more going on more & more vacations. Others of these were just sold in little boutiques or even hair salons & stores. I have opened some original cases still wrapping the dogs/deer/cats in wood shavings. Ours have no writing on the fronts. The same company made ashtrays with the same animals as the theme. I think I have some of those too! Stay tuned These were sold by a company originally in Providence, Rhode Island. Made of red clay/redware with a thick paint coat glaze. You get one like the sample photos showing the uniqueness of each hand-painted figurine. No two are alike & yours may have random paint differences like the samples. THE PROCESS: REDWARE, also known as terra cotta, is a variety of earthenware whose body of soft porous clay turns red, orange, or brown when fired due to its high iron content. Then these are dipped in thick black paint, then additional decorative paint is applied & then a clear-coat type glaze.
