Tektites are formed from the melting & rapid cooling of terrestrial rocks that have been vaporized by the high-energy impacts of large meteorites, comets, or asteroids upon the surface of the Earth. Australian Aborigines believe that Tektites bring good luck. It is not completely understood how the glass forms which adds to the charm & mystery of this rare material. A tektite is not a meteorite.
